This
as the name suggests is a version of the standard Ellastone,
(the above image is of an Elaastone). Originally designed
for John Renbourne, it employs a revised system of bracing,
and even more careful selection and matching of materials
than the standard guitar. This gives the response and sweetness
of tone that most would expect after several years of "playing
in" almost immediately. It is even more forgiving of
non-standard tunings than the standard version.
It has a Sitka Spruce sound board on Rosewood back and sides.
The body is bound in natural wood, with a Boxwood or Maple
line and has Herringbone purfling. The soundhole rosette
is Abalone with black/white/black concentric rings. The
bridge is Rio Rosewood with a Bone saddle and
Gold plated brass bridge pins.
The Cedar or Mahogany neck has an Ebony fingerboard with
20 wide oval frets and is bound with Ebony, the scale length
being 25" .There are mother-of-pearl dot markers both
on the face and sides of the neck. The head stock has an
ornamental hardwood facing, with the Northworthy logo in
Abalone, and is scarfe jointed to the neck for extra strength.
The fingerboard nut is Bone, and the tuning machines are
high quality enclosed types, Gold plated.
It also comes ready fitted with a high quality transducer
and pre-amp as standard.
Please note that due to the uncertainty of
materials supply and cost, it may be necessary to alter
some cosmetic items. It is also our policy to continually
develop our instruments, and to use the best materials available
at the time, so variations in specification do occur, though
any significant changes are discussed with our customers
prior to building.
